How Intent Data works in Interceptly, how often it updates, and how to correctly use it in campaigns.

What Intent Data Is

Intent Data helps you identify people and companies actively researching solutions related to your offer. Interceptly uses anonymized, privacy-safe intent signals to highlight prospects who are more likely to be in-market.

This allows you to prioritize outreach based on real buying signals instead of static criteria alone.

Why Intent Data Matters

Intent Data helps you:

  • Focus outreach on accounts already researching relevant topics.

  • Personalise messaging based on active interests.

  • Reduce wasted outreach to low-intent prospects.

  • Improve reply and conversion rates.


How Intent Data Updates

Intent Data is refreshed at least once per day and may update multiple times per day. The exact timing of updates is not visible and cannot be predicted.

Why update timing is unpredictable:

  • The data provider uploads extensive datasets containing intent IDs.

  • Upload times vary based on data size and volume.

  • Interceptly detects new data after upload and then processes it.

  • Processing time varies, so the exact availability time cannot be determined.

As a result, new intent signals may become available at different times throughout the day.

🚨 Important: Seeing new data available does not automatically add new prospects to your campaign. A manual action is required. See the section below.


How to Set Up an Intent Data Search

Step 1: Create a Campaign

Create a new campaign and select "Add Search".

Step 2: Select Intent Data

From the left-hand menu, select "Intent Data".

Step 3: Select Target Topics

  1. Select the topics your ideal customers are actively researching.

  2. Use the search bar or browse the topic list.

  3. Select up to 30 topics. Start with 1 to 2 focused topics to keep targeting precise and messaging relevant.

  4. Select "Next".

Step 4: Apply Filters

  1. Select filters to narrow your results.

  2. Adjust filters carefully to avoid over-restricting results.

If this is your first Intent Data search, keep the filters minimal and expand them later based on the results.

🚨 Caution: Intent Data is available only for prospecting within the United States.

Step 5: Review Search Settings

  1. Review all selected topics and filters.

  2. Optionally enter a search name.

  3. Set the number of contacts to include, up to 2,000.

  4. Remove any topic or filter by selecting the "x".

Step 6: Save the Search

Select "Save" to add the search to the campaign.

🚨 Caution: After saving or launching a campaign, searches become locked and cannot be edited. You can rerun the search or create a new one if changes are needed.

How Intent Data Is Added to Campaigns

What Happens on First Launch

When a campaign using an Intent Data search is launched for the first time, Interceptly automatically adds all currently available matching profiles to the campaign.

How New Intent Data is Added After Launch

After the first launch, new Intent Data is not added automatically.

To add newly available intent profiles, you must manually rerun the search.

How to Refresh Intent Data Results

  1. Open the campaign.

  2. Locate the Intent Data search.

  3. Select the three-dot menu.

  4. Select "Rerun".

Once rerun:

  • Interceptly checks for newly ingested intent data.

  • Any new profiles that match your topics and filters are added to the campaign.

Best Practices For Intent Data Searches

  • Keep topic selection focused to avoid broad, low-intent results.

  • Use enrichment credits to unlock verified emails and phone numbers.

  • Add email or phone steps to reach prospects across multiple channels.

  • Review filter usage carefully. If a data field is missing, that prospect will not appear.

  • Regularly rerun searches to capture newly available intent data.
