If Interceptly shows an "incorrect username or password" error on the LinkedIn connection screen, the credentials you entered don't match what LinkedIn has on file. This is almost always a password issue, not a platform issue.
π Note: Your Interceptly dashboard login is separate from your LinkedIn credentials. Use your LinkedIn email address and password on the connection screen, not your Interceptly login details.
Steps to Resolve the Error
Open an incognito or private browsing tab. This prevents your browser from auto-filling a saved (and possibly outdated) password, so you know you're entering credentials manually.
Go to linkedin.com and sign in with the email address and password for the LinkedIn account you want to connect. If login fails here, reset your password at LinkedIn before continuing.
Note the exact credentials you used. Once logged in, confirm the email address and password. You'll enter both in the next step.
Open Interceptly and go to the LinkedIn connection screen.
Enter the same credentials you just used to log into LinkedIn. Do not use your Interceptly dashboard login.
Complete any verification step if prompted. A verification code or CAPTCHA is expected and does not indicate a problem.
FAQs
Q: Why does this error appear if my password seems correct?
A: Saved browser passwords can become outdated without you noticing. Running through the login in incognito removes auto-fill and confirms the password works before you enter it in Interceptly.
Q: Can I use my Interceptly dashboard password to connect LinkedIn?
A: No. Your Interceptly dashboard login and your LinkedIn credentials are separate. The LinkedIn connection screen requires your LinkedIn email address and password only.
Q: What if I still can't log into LinkedIn in incognito?
A: Your LinkedIn password needs to be reset. Go to linkedin.com, select "Forgot password", and follow the steps. Once you've reset it and confirmed it works, return to Interceptly and try connecting again.
Q: Will this error affect my active campaigns?
A: If your account was already connected and running campaigns, this error may mean LinkedIn has logged the account out. Reconnecting with the verified credentials should restore the connection.
π Success! Once your credentials are confirmed and entered correctly, Interceptly will connect your LinkedIn account and resume normal operation. If the error persists after following these steps, contact us on Live Chat, and we'll help further.
