What Placeholders Are

Placeholders are dynamic tags. They insert data into your message when it is sent.

Common data includes:

  • Prospect name.

  • Company name.

  • Job title.

  • Sender name.

🎓 Note: Using placeholders means that you do not need to personalize each message manually.

Example of Placeholders in Use

Instead of writing:

  • Hi John, I noticed you’ve been at Acme Corp for 5 years.

Write:

  • Hi {first_name}, I noticed you’ve been with {company_name} for {years_in_company} years.

Interceptly fills in the correct values for each prospect.

Where Placeholders Can Be Used

You can use placeholders in any campaign step that includes text:

  • Send Connection Request.

  • Send Email, subject, and body.

  • Send InMail.

  • Send Message.

  • Send SMS, currently unavailable.

How to Insert Placeholders

  1. Open a campaign step with a text field.

  2. Type your message.

  3. Select the placeholder icon on the left side of the text panel.

  4. Select a placeholder from the list.

  5. Confirm that the placeholder appears where your cursor is.

💡Tip: You can also type placeholders manually if you know the format.

Best Practices

Use fallbacks

Some placeholders may not have data. Use fallbacks to keep messages natural.

Example:

  • Hi {first_name:there}!

If the first name is missing, the message shows:

  • Hi there!
